Cold case buyer, Chris DiSanto, and his family visited Swiss Villa
Farm. Swiss Villa is the home of a herd of local grass-fed and antibiotic free cows producing totally raw milk sold at Martindale’s in glass bottles.

This has been a good year for the farm that provides our “green-cap” raw milk in the returnable glass bottles. An abundance of rain has produced lush grass for the happy cows. Two hundred and sixty big round ‘marshmallow’ bales of grass have been stored for the winter. Fifteen new calves were born this past season and they will begin producing milk at age two years.

The day typically begins with dairy farmer Steve Fisher greeting the brown cows at the wee hours of the morning under the twinkly stars. The gals wake up to “come Bossy” as they are gently coaxed to their morning milking with the machines. One hour later and we have nutritious and totally raw milk produced without hormone additives or antibiotics. No heat involved! Steve provides them with an abundance of fresh water
along with a salt/mineral/vitamin mix. The milk yields a 4% butterfat content and is most assuredly a top seller at Martindale’s.

The Swiss Villa umbrella of local farms also provides raw cheeses, organically pastured, grass-fed beef, and organically pastured
chicken and eggs. These are also non-GMO, soy-free, and antibiotic free. One of the local farmers is Steve’s daughter, Mary, the chicken farmer, down the road.
So what more could a natural dairy farmer be dreaming of? Steve is working towards producing raw cream along with pasteurized
cottage cheese. If things go well he will have the machinery and be in production late this year. We certainly will be watching what the
Swiss Villa “Drink Raw, Live Green” motto will bring next.
