Curcumin – We Rest Our Case

Curcumin is the main active constituent in turmeric. You know, turmeric, that wonderful spice that gives curries their characteristic pungent taste and brilliant golden color. But aside from consuming it in a curry or soup, why would you take curcumin as a supplement? Consider bioavailability before buying when inflammation is a concern. We rest our case on this one – shouldn’t you?

Inflammation Multitasker

Curcumin is a multitasker that has multiple health benefits. Widely studied, it has been shown to help promote a healthy inflammatory response and to support joint, brain, and cardiovascular health.

But there’s a catch. It has very poor bioavailability. In one study, amounts of up to 8,000 mg of resulted in no detectable curcumin in the volunteers’ bloodstreams. Amounts administered up to 12,000 mg resulted in very low levels in only 2 of 24 subjects (it was undetectable in the others).

The Quest to Increase Bioavailability: Size

Manufacturers have tried to increase the spice’s bioavailability in various ways. One method combines the compound with special fats (called phospholipids) in order to ferry it more easily through the digestive system. Another blends it with piperine (from black pepper), which inhibits enzymes that eliminate the spice from the system. Reducing particle size (micronizing) is a third approach.

These enhanced-bioavailability formulas are an improvement over commodity curcumin. However, head-to-head tests have shown the best-absorbed and most bioavailable have particles reduced to a sub-micron level — a process known as nanoparticle encapsulation. In fact, the combined results of two pharmacokinetic studies report that nanoparticle encapsulation improved bioavailability 5.6 times more than a phospholipid formulation, 9 times more than piperine, and 10.7 times more than micronization.

We Rest Our Case – #1 Absorbed Form

Natural Factors CurcuminRich® Theracurmin®, is the #1 absorbed form of curcumin and the most bioavailable form, supported by more double-blind clinical trials than any other brand.

This particular supplement has been clinically shown to support flexible arteries, encourage blood vessel function, and promote memory and attention in middle-aged adults and seniors.

Mood, Memory, Cognition Benefits

Get measurable results for memory, too. For example, a 2018 UCLA study garnered a tremendous amount of attention from the scientific community – healthy older adults with mild, age-related memory loss who took just 180 mg daily over 18 months showed improvements in mood, memory, and a reduction in beta-amyloid and tau plaque. The results suggest that taking Theracurmin long term could provide meaningful cognitive benefits over the years.

Both regular and double-strength curcumin formulas are stand-alone products that provide foundational support for everybody. They support the body’s natural inflammation response and exert powerful antioxidant activity. Both dosages are available in 30, 60, and 120 count sizes.
