Greetings from Africa is a series of unique, handcrafted greeting cards reflecting the volunteer work abroad of Michael Flicker. You can meet Michael, a Martindale’s staff member, as he serves our customers. 10% percent of all profits will be donated to the care of Africa’s poor. Locally made is better!
The photographs in this collection were captured by Michael during personal trips to several African nations between 1994 and 2001, including Ghana, Benin, Togo, Guinea, South Africa, and Madagascar.
Michael volunteered as an x-ray technologist and photographer aboard the “Anastasis,” one of the world’s largst non-governmental hospital ships. The objective of those on board the ship was to provide free care to thousands of Africans in need of medical attention.
During his leisure time, Michael traveled to numerous villages meeting the African people. Deeply affected by the warmth and dignity of the Africans he met, Michael was inspired to convey these qualities through his photographs. A graduate of the Antonelli School of Photography, Michael currently resides in suburban Philadelphia.
