Paradise, Where Good Grows
Our Roots → Our Farms Series – Part 3
Paradise Organics continues to inspire our Local Roots Team as we explore the farms that shape our food. This trusted organic farm in Pennsylvania shows how care, intention, and respect for the land can create nourishment that feels truly meaningful.
This autumn, our team traveled through the golden fields and winding country roads of Lancaster County. We arrived at Paradise Organics, a certified-organic farm that lives up to its beautiful name. Owner Chris B. Petersheim has built his farm around a simple purpose: grow wholesome, nutrient-dense produce with integrity. For Chris, organic farming is a commitment. It protects the land, supports the environment, and brings honest food to the community.

Organic Farm in Pennsylvania
Chris discovered his passion young. “Since I was a child, I’ve had an interest in gardening and always wanted to be a vegetable farmer,” he recalls. That dream eventually grew into Paradise Organics, a farm rooted in curiosity, dedication, and faith in the land.
Today, the farm cultivates vegetables and herbs across five fertile acres. Chris focuses on soil health. He avoids synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. Instead, he nurtures the soil so every crop grows with balance and natural strength. The results speak for themselves. Many vegetables are harvested and delivered to market within 24 hours. Therefore, customers enjoy produce that is fresh, vibrant, and bursting with nutrients.
A Pioneer in Pennsylvania Organics
Chris’s impact reaches far beyond his fields. In 1997, he co-founded Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO). This nonprofit supports growers through education, inspection, and certification. As a result, Chris helped establish a trusted foundation for organic farming across the state.
His work strengthened transparency, built consumer confidence, and empowered local farmers to pursue sustainable agriculture. Paradise Organics now stands as a model of what community-driven, ethical farming can achieve.
What Paradise Organics Grows
During the growing season, Martindale’s Natural Market proudly carries a wide selection from Chris’s fields. Shoppers can find:
-
Fresh greens and baby lettuce mixes
-
Kale, Swiss chard, and collards
-
Beets, cabbage, and scallions
-
Tender herbs such as cilantro and parsley
-
Summer squash and other seasonal favorites
Each item is USDA-certified organic. Every harvest is done by hand. Then, produce is delivered promptly to preserve its natural vitality. You can taste the difference in every bite.
Why We’re Proud to Partner
At Martindale’s, we choose partners who share our values: sustainability, transparency, freshness, and community commitment. Paradise Organics reflects all of these qualities. Supporting Chris’s work strengthens local ecosystems and enhances regional food security. It also keeps our local economy resilient.
When you pick up a bag of crisp salad greens or a bunch of fragrant herbs from Paradise Organics, you support a farm that grows with purpose. More importantly, you support a story rooted in stewardship and love for the land.
Gratitude from the Road
We offer our warmest thanks to Chris B. Petersheim and his dedicated team for welcoming us and sharing their passion. Their commitment to organic integrity inspires us, our staff, and the wider community.
As we continue our Our Roots → Our Farms series, we’re reminded that every harvest tells a
story—one of perseverance, stewardship, and love for the land. Farms like Paradise Organics
show us that when we nurture the soil, we nurture life itself.
Stay tuned for our next visit as we continue exploring the fields, faces, and philosophies behind
