Life at The Edge Farms

Cultivating Change from the Ground Up

As part of the second installment in the Our Roots, Our Farms series, we’re proud to highlight another local partner that embodies integrity, innovation, and care for the Earth. The Edge Farms, located in Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, beautifully represents those values. Founded by Alexandra Ferris and Blake Edmonds, this woman-owned and Black-owned business is redefining what it means to grow clean, nutrient-dense food through ecological balance, animal welfare, and deep community connection.

Life at The Edge Farms

From Soil to Soul

In a world where so many worry about the quality of our food, The Edge Farms offers something extraordinary—food grown with integrity, flavor, and purpose. Their mission is to produce nutrient-rich food while improving the health of soil, air, and water, creating harmony between people and the planet.

Their name comes from a natural truth: the edge of any ecosystem is where life flourishes most abundantly. Where forest meets field, or water meets land, diversity thrives. That same principle guides The Edge Farms—building diversity into intensively managed areas and cultivating healthy mini-ecosystems where plants, animals, and soil support one another.

Using no commercial fertilizers and no GMOs, The Edge team treats their land as a living, breathing system. Every pasture, forest, and crop plot contributes to a farm that is regenerative, not just sustainable—leaving the land better than when they arrived.

Integrity Farming in Action

Integrity farming is more than a philosophy at The Edge—it’s a practice visible in every pasture and woodland. Their heritage-breed, pasture-raised chickens roam freely, foraging daily for seeds, greens, and insects. In nearby forests, forest-raised turkeys scratch through fallen leaves and perch among the trees, living as nature intended.

They also raise Heritage Pork: Forest Raised, with the same humane and ecological approach that guides everything they do. And for those who love something sweet, their local raw, unfiltered honey captures the very essence of the surrounding landscape—pure, flavorful, and full of natural vitality.

All this thoughtful stewardship results in food that’s as nutritious as it is delicious. Their Rainbow Eggs, famous for their beautiful shells and bright orange yolks, have even turned picky eaters into fans. It’s clean food that makes mealtime easier, tastier, and full of joy.

Experiences That Connect People to the Land

The Edge Farms believes that food is best understood through experience. They invite the community to connect with the land through hands-on activities that bring farming to life. Visitors can participate in Baby Goat Bottle Feeding, enjoy an educational Farm Tour, or take part in the heartwarming Foster a Chick Program, where families help support and follow the life of a growing hen.

And there’s more to come—soon, The Edge will host a Biochar Workshop, teaching how this ancient technique can capture carbon and improve soil health. Each experience reflects their belief that true sustainability comes from education, connection, and shared wonder.

Beyond Sustainable: Regenerative and Relational

For Alexandra and Blake, The Edge Farms is more than a business—it’s a movement to transform how people relate to food, farming, and themselves. Their work is rooted in relationship-based agriculture, where trust, community, and respect are the foundation.

As they explain, “We believe in making it personal. Relationships built on handshakes and the value of a person’s word mean THAT much to us.”

Their vision has reached beyond the local community as well. They were featured on NPR affiliate WITF’s “The Spark” with Asia Tabb, sharing insights on regenerative agriculture and community empowerment. The year before, they appeared on Philadelphia’s historic WURD Radio to discuss the importance of minority-owned small businesses and the power of storytelling in reshaping our food systems.
